Lucebra Honor Code

All users of learning materials hosted on the Lucebra platform are expected to abide by the following standards to ensure the integrity of learning within Lucebra learning experiences. Learners are required to familiarize themselves with and comply with the Terms of Use for the Lucebra platform, as well as any code of conduct, academic policy, honor code, or any institution's requirements associated with programs in which a learner has enrolled through the Lucebra platform.

Purpose and Scope

Academic misconduct undermines the value of Lucebra-hosted credentials and devalues the authentic efforts of other learners. Therefore, learners engaging in misconduct are subject to consequences as described below.

Definitions and Scope

Work within a Lucebra Activity: All activities on the Lucebra platform, including logins and all course activities, are subject to these policies. This includes exams, quizzes, peer review activities, assessments, discussion board contributions, guided projects, and labs. Activities outside the platform related to coursework on the platform are also covered.

Unauthorized Activities: Any activity that violates Lucebra's Terms of Use, course or platform policies, or academic standards is considered unauthorized. This includes illegal activities and those that violate integrity standards expected of a learner on the Lucebra platform.

Violations
  1. Plagiarism: Copying or reproducing words, ideas, or other materials from another source without giving credit to the original author. This includes having another person alter or revise your work and submitting it as your own. All assessment submissions must be original works done independently by the learner. Plagiarism also includes self-plagiarism, where a learner submits the same work already submitted for another assessment or module without disclosure and permission.
  2. Use of Unauthorized Materials: Using or consulting unauthorized materials, including electronic materials and generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT), or using unauthorized equipment or devices on any work within a Lucebra activity unless expressly permitted.
  3. Unauthorized Collaboration: Working with any person on any work within a Lucebra activity unless expressly permitted.
  4. Contract Cheating: Paying, trading, or otherwise getting another person to create work for submission to a Lucebra course or activity.
  5. Impersonation: Completing work within any Lucebra activity while logged in as another user or having another user complete work while logged in as you. Misrepresenting the authorship of work submitted on Lucebra.
  6. Unauthorized Sharing of Resources: Making any information about or solutions to homework, quizzes, exams, projects, and other assessments available to anyone else. This includes solutions written by you, other learners, outside resources, or any solutions provided by the course staff or others.
  7. Fraud: Any misrepresentation about the authorship or the conditions under which work within a Lucebra activity was performed, not otherwise specified. This includes falsifying any evidence in support of any mitigating circumstances claim.
  8. Other Misconduct: Any other behavior that confers an unfair advantage to you or someone else, or any activity that attempts to dishonestly improve your results or improve or harm the results of others in the performance of work within a Lucebra activity.
Consequences for Non-Degree Products

Lucebra will determine relevant sanctions based on the nature and severity of the misconduct, the stakes of the assessment, and any previous history of misconduct by the user. Sanctions may include, but are not limited to:

  • Warnings
  • Loss of credit for an assignment
  • Failure of a course
  • Revocation of certificates or credentials
  • Temporary or permanent deactivation of the Lucebra account

No refunds will be issued in the case of any corrective action for such violations. Honor Code violations will be determined at the sole discretion of Lucebra and its partners. Learners will be notified if a determination has been made that they have violated this Honor Code and will be informed of the corresponding action to be taken.

Consequences for Degree Products

For Degree, MasterTrack, and University Certificate Programs, consequences are at the sole discretion of the content provider. These may include:

  • Warnings
  • Loss of credit for an assignment or course
  • Probation
  • Suspension or expulsion from the program
  • Revocation of credentials
Acknowledgment

Learners are required to acknowledge understanding of these terms, for example: "I, John Doe, understand that submitting work that isn't my own may result in permanent failure of this course or deactivation of my Lucebra account."

By adhering to this Honor Code, learners contribute to maintaining a fair and ethical academic environment, ensuring the integrity and value of the learning experience for all.
